Creating Your Vivid Vision for 2025
I recently had the opportunity to speak at our latest Fireside Retreat about something that has truly transformed the way I approach business and life: Vivid Vision. Since this message really inspired our Firestarters, I wanted to share it with you in this week’s edition of Escaping the Ordinary.
Reflecting on 2024 Before Looking Ahead
Before diving into your 2025 goals, take a moment to reflect on everything you accomplished in 2024. This is a strategy I’ve learned from the book The Gap and the Gain by Benjamin Hardy, which I currently have my 8th grader reading for homeschool. Too often, we focus on where we want to go without acknowledging how far we’ve already come. Recognizing your past achievements helps build momentum for future success.
Many people set New Year’s resolutions, only to forget them or give up by the third week of January. But by first acknowledging your progress, you set a solid foundation for creating meaningful and achievable goals.
Why You Started & The Power of Your Why
Let’s be honest—running a business, homeschooling, or just living an adventurous life comes with its struggles. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily challenges, but in those moments, it’s crucial to reconnect with your why.
Take a few minutes today to reflect:
Why did you start your business, or why did you choose this lifestyle?
Go beyond the obvious answers like “to make money.” Dig deeper.
For me, my why started with wanting to contribute financially to our family. But as I peeled back the layers, I realized it was about so much more—getting out of debt, reducing stress, spending more time with my kids, and ultimately building a life of freedom and adventure. What’s your deeper why?
Crafting Your Vivid Vision
Last year at the retreat, we created vision boards. This year, I introduced a concept inspired by the book Vivid Vision by Cameron Herold. It’s a simple yet powerful practice where you visualize your ideal life three years from now as if it’s already happening.
Five Areas to Focus On:
Personal Life: Relationships, health, hobbies.
Professional Goals: Business growth, financial milestones.
Family & Lifestyle: Travel, shared experiences, work-life balance.
Spiritual & Personal Growth: Faith, contributions, personal development.
Daily Routines & Environment: How do you spend your time? Where do you live?
How to Create Your Vivid Vision
Write your vision in the present tense, as if you’re already living it.
Include specific details—not just “I own a campground,” but “I’m living with my family on a 20-acre property in upstate New York, running a thriving campground where we host families seeking adventure.”
Read it daily. It will keep you focused and motivated, especially when shiny distractions come up!
What Happens Next?
Your vivid vision is your compass. It helps you filter decisions, set clear goals, and stay aligned with what truly matters. And remember, your vision can evolve—what you want today may change as you grow, and that’s okay!
If you haven't yet, take some time this week to journal your vivid vision. Let’s thrive in 2025!
I’d love to hear about your why and what your vivid vision looks like. Hit reply and share a piece of your future vision with me!
Until next time—keep exploring, dreaming, and living life on your own terms.
